Rob Covington Interview

I'm responsible for all our design needs and the needs of our diverse range of clients. This includes ad campaign concepts, brand identity, website design, photography, print, and motion graphics like videos and animated Google ads.
I believe that for art to be good or to be a success in advertising it has to pass these three tests. 1st - Form Art must be aesthetically appealing, utilizing everything from color theory, typography, composition, balance, and ultimately beauty. 2nd - Function Art must be fitting for its purpose. If a design is for a billboard, can it be read from a distance in a fast-moving vehicle? 3rd - Feeling For art to be truly successful it needs to evoke an emotional response. After all, art is an expression. It needs to move you to feel something.
I like to call it "creativity on command". Some projects don't have time for you to wait until you are inspired. When there is a deadline you have to rely on your experience and discipline to help you achieve it.
To be an artist, it doesn't matter what you do, what does matter is how you do it. If you put enough passion, love, honesty, and skill into what you do, it becomes an art form. The most important advice I can give is to never stop learning, and keep on creating!
